So, What is 252 Basics?

252 Basics is the new curriculum strategy we are using with our elementary aged kids. It is based on Luke 2:52 (hence the name 252 Basics), "....and Jesus grew in wisdom, and in statue, and in favor with God and man." Simply put, Jesus grew in wisdom, faith and friendship, and that's what we want kids to do too!

So? What are the basics of 252 Basics? I'm glad you asked! Here are the 3 Basic Truths we want kids to know:

1. I need to make the wise choice. So I will....
  • Trust and follow Jesus
  • Spend time getting to know God.
  • Do whatever God says.
  • Discover God's unique plan for my life.

2. I can trust God no matter what, because.....
  • He is my Creator.
  • He is my Father.
  • He is my Guide.
  • He is my Savior.

3. I should treat others the way I want to be treated, so I will........
  • Show God's love to those around me.
  • Care enough to put other's before me.
  • Respect whoever God puts over me.
  • Be the right friend to those beside me.
The Basic Truths are brought to life by a key concept each week, and that key concept also relates to the Virtue for the month. Monthly Virtues with corresponding memory verses provide the framework for each month and are reinforced with weekly Bible stories, life application, and hands-on activities.

So, there you have it: 3 Basic Truths, Monthly Core  Virtues and Weekly key concepts all work together to be 252 Basics!!
